Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A proposal was introduced in the West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday from the Speaker's chair, referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the subsequent military response. The resolution aimed to acknowledge the incident and the armed forces' actions, but it did not mention ‘Operation Sindoor’, which drew objections from the opposition.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opposed the omission, demanding to know why the name of the counter-terror operation was not included in the proposal. BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul raised the issue and said, “Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee is part of a diplomatic delegation, yet his party and government are avoiding any mention of Operation Sindoor.”
No clarification has yet been issued from the ruling party regarding the BJP’s demand. The matter led to protests in the House, with BJP members calling for the resolution to be amended to include specific reference to the operation conducted by security forces.
